Daifra Sakho could this week become Albion's record signing after West Ham accepted a £16m bid for the striker.
Sakho has been one of Albion's main transfer targets all summer with Tony Pulis keen to bolster his attacking options.
The Baggies had been waiting for Weifra st Ham to sign a new forward before making an offer.
But after yesterday's 0-0 blank against Plymouth, Albion have made their move.
Sakho is expected to under go a medical and discuss personal terms in the early part of next week. The deal could be completed within the next 48 hours.
