China Captain, Zheng Zhi, could be on his way to The Hawthorns with Charlton admitting a 'substantial bid' had been tabled for the midfielder. The Addicks have had to trim both their wage bill after failing to secure an immediate return to The Premiership last term with Zheng seemingly next in line to leave The Valley.

The 27-year-old midfielder could be the missing piece of Tony Mowbray's midfield jigsaw with the Albion boss still searching for a holding midfielder.

However any bid for the Chinese star would have to be completed after the Olympics after he was picked to captain his country in Beijing.
