Albion are hoping to secure the services of Chilean international defender, Gonzalo Jara, after having a £1.4 million bid accepted by the 23-year-old’s club, Colo Colo.
The 5’11” defender, who can play anywhere along the back line, is now due to fly to England for a medical after having preliminary discussions with Albion officials.
Jara, who has 25 international caps and two goals to his name, started his career at Huachipato before transferring to Colo Colo in 2007. The deal for the defender includes additional add-ons, plus a sell on clause.
“We are pleased that we can provide an opportunity for someone to take his career forward into European football,” said Colo Colo president Gabriel Ruiz-Tagle.
"We are very proud of this at our club.
"It shows to us that Colo Colo is the best place to give players the greatest opportunity in Chilean football.
"We appreciate his efforts and we are confident he will do well in England."
