Gabriel Tamas has become Albion’s first summer signing after the club decided to exercise their right on the permanent transfer for the Auxerre defender. The Romanian international joined the Baggies on loan back in January and played a significant role in helping Albion secure automatic promotion.
The 26-year-old made his debut against Nottingham Forest and went on to feature in the Baggies’ remaining league games making 24 starts and one appearance from the bench, netting twice against Reading and Crystal Palace.
The central defender, who can also play at right-back, was recently selected for Romania’s summer internationals against Ukraine, Macedonia and Honduras after his good form.
Tamas will be officially registered on July 1st after joining for an undisclosed fee.
