Albion are stepping up their interest in striker Demba Ba after club officials headed to Turkey to open talks about a deal.
The striker is valued around €10m by current club Besiktas after the former Chelsea striker scored 27 goals last season.
Besiktas have already accepted an offer for €14m by Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua but it’s believed the striker would prefer a move back to the Premier League.
“Nothing has been agreed yet the Chinese side wants him for and have made us an offer of €14 million but nothing has been finalised as of yet,” said Ahmet Ürkmezgil, who sits on the board of directors at Besiktas.
Ba, who has previously played for West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea, is believed to be on a deal worth around £70,000. He has two years left on his current deal after joining from Chelsea last summer for €6m.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis is a keen admirer of Ba and tried to sign the forward during his time in charge at Stoke City.
The deal to bring Ba to The Hawthorns may be dependent on Albion offloading misfiring pair Ideye Brown and Victor Anichebe – both who are available for sale.
