Jason Koumas, Paul Heffernan and Dimitrios Konstantopoulos have been named as the winners of the December Powerade Player of the Month awards.
Koumas was in excellent goalscoring form in December, netting four goals in six league games to help West Bromwich Albion remain unbeaten. The Wales international's terrific scoring run began against Barnsley and included further strikes against Coventry and promotion rivals Preston. The midfielder also hit the opening goal in his side's final game of the month against Ipswich to leave the Baggies amongst the play-off places in the Championship. Also shortlisted for the December award in the Championship were Gary McSheffrey of Birmingham, Richard Garcia of Colchester and Sheffield Wednesday's Glenn Whelan.
Chris Kamara, chairman of the awards panel, said: "Jason Koumas was in outstanding form for West Brom in December. His goals record from midfield was terrific and several of his strikes are already candidates for goal of the season. Jason has really started to fulfil his potential and is proving to be a really important member of Tony Mowbray's side."
