The testimomial match for Saddlers skipper Ian Roper also saw 90 minute debuts for Baggies summer signings John Hartson and Chris Perry.

Winger Jonathan Greening gave the Albion the lead five minutes before the break but Martin Butler levelled for the hosts just five minutes after the break.

Albions 2-1 win came courtesy of an Anthony Gerrard own goal in the 65th minute.
