Bednar thankful for quality ammunition

On-loan Czech striker Roman Bednar has laid praise on his supply of ammunition which has seen the 24-year-old striker score seven goals in as many matches. After a disrupted start to the campaign due to injury the hitman has found scoring a welcome occurrence.

Bednar's scoring form has coincided with the Baggies recent run of good form and saw the striker preferred to Ishmael Miller and Craig Beattie in attack alongside Kevin Phillips for the visit of Bristol City.

"I can't believe how well it is going for me at the moment," Bednar said.

"I work hard, as do all the lads.

"I have belief in the team and I'm lucky I'm there to get on the end of things and score.

Bednar was unlucky not to score his seventh goal of the season after seeing his effort rebound off the crossbar in the first-half, however, the striker didn't have long to wait converting a Carl Hoefkens cross just two minutes into the second half.

"It was good work by Carl that led to my goal today.

"He won the ball on the touchline, drove in and put the ball where I was."

A rocket from Robert Koren, his sixth of the season, and two goals from fellow forward Kevin Phillips secured top-spot in the division on goal difference from the day's former leaders Watford.

"We're not paying much attention to the table," Bednar continued.

"We're always looking to get three points from the next game."
