Roman Bednar wants the opportunity to show he can score goals in the Premier League – after last night firing Albion’s first in a 2-0 win over Wolves reserves.
The Czech striker has hardly figured this season and spent part of December on loan at Championship outfit Leicester City.
But Bednar has returned back to The Hawthorns with a point to prove and to impress Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo.
He was selected last night in attack with Marc-Antonie Fortune and took just three minutes to find the back of the net from the penalty spot. It was the striker’s first goal of the season and he now hopes to impress in the Premier League – if and when he’s called upon.
"There are always goals in me,” said the former Hearts man.
"If I work hard the goals come.
"Last night was my first goal this season so I'm pretty pleased with it.
"Of course Peter is No.1 - and that's no problem.
"But if he is unable to play for some reason, I'm ready.
"This is West Brom and we want to win as a team, so I'm ready for 20 minutes, half-an-hour or starting - whatever the gaffer wants me to do."
