Bednar's spot-on for Mowbray

After already missing three penalties this term Tony Mowbray was delighted Roman Bednar took on the responsibility to become Albion's spot-kick king at Coventry. Bednar's winner in the penalty shoot-out against Charlton in the third-round reply set up a fourth-round tie at Peterborough with Mowbray pleased the on-loan Hearts striker took full responsibility when the penalty was awarded.

"Roman's goals were a reward for his endeavour," Mowbray said.

"He seems to have this ability to keep running and keep chasing.

"A lot of strikers wouldn't have even chased the keeper down the way he did for his first goal so great credit to him for having the work ethic.

"He still had to take it around the goalkeeper and it was a clinical finish.

"With the second goal it was good to see him take a penalty.

"If Kevin had been on the field he might not have got the ball off him.

"I don't tell them who takes it.

"I let them decide, because the man who's nominated might be having a stinker and missed four open goals and, if the penalty opportunity comes along, they might not want to take it.

"Kevin is probably our recognised penalty taker and, if he's not on the field, whoever is on the field and feeling confident should take it.

"I don't mind who takes penalties as long as we score them.

"We have missed three of them this year but that one went in so I'm pleased."

The five-star performance at Coventry also saw Ishmael Miller cap his return from injury with a goal. Miller scored his 11th goal of campaign after coming on as a substitute for Bednar as his builds up his match fitness after a six-week lay-off with a hamstring injury.

"I think it was a typical Ishmael Miller goal, where he used his pace and strength to produce a great finish," Mowbray added.

"All goalscorers need to get goals.

"Ishmael doesn't lack belief or confidence in his ability to score goals so it wasn't a problem for him.

"But it was great to see him looking strong and powerful again.

"Sometimes when you've been out for a while you need time.

"He played about an hour the other day which is part of his progress back to full fitness and sharpness.

"Hopefully he'll be angling for almost a goal a game like he was before.

"I'm delighted he scored and had a part to play in Zoltan's goal, when he showed selflessness in the box."
