Albion boss Tony Mowbray has refused to write his side's chances of automatic promotion off despite Saturday's disappointing 2-1 defeat against Hull left the Baggies six points off the top two.

Although Albion have a game in hand on their promotion rival just one point from a possible nine has seen the Baggies fall from top-spot to fourth. However, Mowbray is refusing to panic insisting the characteristics of his current squad are far from that of last season with his players more than capable of reviving a promotion push.

"We won't be losing the faith," the Albion chief insisted.

"Hopefully nobody else who follows our club with a passion will do so.

"There are 13 games to go and it should be a challenge that we enjoy.

"Our challenge now is to come from behind and if people want to write us off then that's another extra challenge for us.

"I don't see the problems that were in the dressing last season.

"The problem I will face is if we don't achieve this year people will say 'same again', but I think that would be a totally different set of circumstances.

"I don't see any issues around the dressing room.

"We could have easily won on Saturday and easily scored against Sheffield United.

"It's important I keep perspective.

"If I had problems I would try to deal with them.

"Yes, we want to win football matches but I don't see a grave problem around the club that needs addressing.

"I don't have to live through the problems we had last year.

"I have a group of players who are striving to get into the team, who understand they may not play week in, week out and all want to achieve together."
