Roberto Di Matteo is hoping Roman Bednar has found his goal-scoring boots again after netting for the first time in four months against Nottingham Forest. The Czech international missed the start of the season through suspension but scored three goals in four games in August on his return.
The goals have dried up since for the popular striker however Di Matteo is hoping Bednar can rediscover the purple patch he enjoyed the last time he was in the Championship which saw him score 13 times for the Baggies.
"He was the second highest scorer behind Phillips last time in this division," the Italian said.
"I watched the whole season and he did score loads of important goals.
"He came back from suspension at the start of this season and scored a few goals and then got injured.
"Somebody else came in and did well.
"He got back in the team and got injured again.
"He got an opportunity on Friday and grabbed his chance."
