Scott Carson has revealed how he hopes joining Albion will help him get back within the England squad. The former Liverpool man had a debut to forget against Croatia as England failed to secure the draw they needed back in November. However Carson is confident of catching Capello's eye after being left out of the squad for the friendlies against the United States and Trinidad and Tobago earlier in the summer.

"I think I am good enough to get back in the England squad," The 22-year-old said.

"Hopefully I can settle down and get a bit of consistency and then I will be looking to get back in.

"No-one really said anything and I was left out of the squad at the end of the season but in fairness I didn't have the best couple of games for Villa before the squad was announced.

"That was fair enough. I took it on the chin. It just made me want to get back in the squad."

Carson looked set to sign for fellow Premier League newcomers Stoke City before opting for a The Hawthorns at the 11th hour. Now, after being loaned out by Liverpool to Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Aston Villa, Carson is finally looking to settle at one club.

"I just want to get settled now. I've been like a nomad for the last three or four years, going out on loan to three different clubs from Liverpool," he continued.

"It will be good to get some roots down and hopefully settle. I can see myself being here for four or five years, even longer than that.

"That's what I want. I did not want to go somewhere and then, after one or two years, not be happy."
