Steve Clarke had admitted his disappointment at certain sections of The Hawthorns crowd booing against Fulham.
A small minority of fans voiced their displeasure at the end of the first half and at the full time whistle after the below-par performance against Fulham. Club captain Chris Brunt was also substituted to ironic cheers.
But Clarke believes Albion fans have got nothing to moan about following a number of impressive shows on home turf this season.
“I don’t think there is any reason or cause for the crowd to have a go at the team after the way they have played, especially in the home games, this season,” he said.
“The players try to give their best every week and sometimes it doesn’t happen. That’s the nature of football. “You don’t have a divine right to go on the pitch and be better than the opposition.
“It was a disappointing first 45 minutes so I could understand the boos at half-time. But I couldn’t understand the boos at the end of the game because in the second-half we gave it a right go.”
