Albion's second consecutive clean-sheet drew praise from manager Tony Mowbray with the Baggies boss drawing the attention away from his free-scoring forwards and onto his solid rearguard. The stalemate against Sheffield United was joined by an FA Cup shutout as Albion's backline stood firm against a spirited home side.

"Just as big a plus as the five goals today was our defensive display," Mowbray said.

"They've taken a lot of flack for goals we've conceded.

"But the likes of Barnett, Albrechtsen and Kiely were exceptional and really stood up to the physical challenge posed by Coventry.

"Coventry were always looking threatening from set-plays.

"They finished the first half quite strongly and we need to give our keeper and back-four great credit."
