Roberto Di Matteo is expecting a busy few days as the January transfer window comes to a close at midnight on Sunday. The Baggies today agreed a deal with Feyenoord for the Dutch international winger Andewe Slory with Di Matteo admitting the club are in discussions with a number of other players and targets as he hopes to add to his squad.
The Baggies have been strongly linked with Crystal Palace’s Victor Moses and Hamilton Academical’s James MacArthur in recent days but Di Matteo admitted deals for the two were far from complete.
“We're in talks with a number of clubs and players to bring in maybe one or two new faces and maybe get one or two faces out," the Italian said.
“With MacArthur it is probably dead at the moment,
"There is no new news about Moses.
"People know of our interest in him.
"It just depends if someone else comes in that is bidding higher.
"You want to sign a player for the right price.
"You don't want to be over-paying because it's the January transfer window.
"If we feel it's the right price for him it's a possibility otherwise we leave it up to other people to deal with."
One player who could fund possible deals for Moses or MacArthur is Leon Barnett. The central defender is currently on loan at Midlands’ rivals Coventry City however a number of clubs have expressed their interest in the defender.
“We've had some interest for Leon,” Di Matteo continued.
"Nothing has been sealed yet but there are ongoing talks.
