Slaven Bilic is hoping to recruit Julian Dicks to replace the out-going Jimmy Shan.
Shan has decided to explore his options as a manager, following his time in charge of the Baggies, and has decided against joining Slaven Bilic's new look backroom team.
Dicks and Bilic worked together at West Ham before the Croatian was sacked as Hammers head coach in November 2017.
The 50-year-old is currently in chage of non-league Heybridge Swifts, although his current agreement is not believed to prevent him from joining the Baggies.
A former tough tackling left back who played who started off at Birmingham City, Dicks made a total of 379 career appearances and also featured for West Ham United and Liverpool. He also won four England Under-21 caps.
After retiring from professional football, Dicks then moved into a new career as a professional golfer. However, his career was quickly cut short with Dick's citing a troublesome knee injury.
