Albion No.2 Keith Downing wants to send Roy Hodgson off to England duty with one final win as Baggies boss.
Hodgson will end his tenure at The Hawthorns after Sunday’s game against Arsenal after being appointed the new England manager.
The Baggies have made great strides during his stewardship at B71 having achieved two mid-table finishes in his spell in charge.
A point or a win against Arsene Wenger’s men would see Albion finish on a record amount of points in one Premier League season, with Downing hoping for a rousing finish to Hodgson’s reign.
“From our point of view, we can’t move up but we want to finish above 47 points and finish strongly to make sure we have momentum for the new man in charge,” he said.
“So there is still something for us to play for and targets, as there were last week.
“We know the importance of Arsenal’s situation and the one thing about the weekend is that if the likes of the Brunts, Thomases and Odemwingies don’t make it, there are opportunities for others to come in.
“There are still contracts to play for and the Euros coming up.
“We hope to give Roy a really good send-off.”
