West Bromwich Albion have accepted a transfer request from striker Nathan Ellington. The 25-year-old, known as The Duke, has grown increasingly agitated with life at The Hawthorns and he has now handed in his request. Former club Wigan had a bid - understood to be £3million - rejected last week and that is believed to have prompted Ellington's move. A number of other Premiership clubs are following his situation and a move in the next few weeks looks increasingly likely.
Chairman Jeremy Peace said: "We've had a long and very amicable chat with Nathan and are sympathetic to his circumstances.
"That is why the manager and the board have reluctantly accepted Nathan's transfer request. However we will only sell him if we receive an acceptable offer. We have stated all along we are under no pressure to sell any of our players and no-one will leave the club unless it suits us."
