Editor's Blog: Job done? Not quite yet!

As quite possibly the world's biggest optimist it may come to many of you as a surprise when I say I'm still a tad nervous about Monday night. With the hard work seemingly completed at the Molineux and Carrow Road in our last two outings, I really hope Southampton don't go and spoil our party at The Hawthorns. While I'd love us to be promoted before a ball is kicked on Saturday, if that's not the case I'd happily settle for the world's most boring 0-0 stalemate.

Promotion would be the least we deserve after the disappointment of last May and the restructuring of the squad completed by both Mowbray and Jeremy Peace. Home games especially over the Christmas period were an absolute joy to watch with football worthy of the top flight. And while I would be delighted with automatic promotion, seeing Jonathan Greening lift the trophy at Loftus Road would be the icing on the cake for another exciting season for Albion fans.

With promotion almost assured the thoughts obviously switch to the future. I like many expect us to have a better chance of survival than we did under both Megson and Robson with Mowbray's footballing philosophies. While a commanding centre-half and a goalkeeper is a must, the history books have shown us that promoted teams who strive to keep the ball on the grass usually achieve safety in their first season in the Premiership.

I look forward to seeing you all on Monday night before the Saints game in The Sportsman. I'll be in there from 5pm onwards, feel free to send me an email and we can exchange numbers for those I haven't met before! Here's to a memorable Monday night!
