Albion are yet to agree a fee with Leicester City over Jeffrey Schlupp, WBA-MAD understands.
Reports had suggested that Schlupp would sign for Albion on Monday after the two clubs agreed an £11.5m deal for the 23-year-old.
But those reports are premature, although Albion are hopeful of agreeing a deal this week for the Ghana international.
Albion desperately need a left back and have been searching all summer for a specialist defender.
Schlupp has been identified as that man after the Baggies failed to tempt a number of other targets.
The Leiceister man, who can play either in defence or further forward, made 24 appearances last season for the Foxes helping them to the Premier League title.
