With Ishmael Miller also set to return from injury, Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo has decided to let Albion’s No.9 leave the club in search of regular football.
"With strikers it is all about confidence and goals," he said.
"I've noticed his frustrations.
"Hopefully he will play and score goals and we'll review the situation when the loan is over.
"Leicester are signing some players to try and boost the team and are investing in the club.
"You would expect to see Leicester winning some games and that should suit him.
"Hopefully he'll score goals to help them, help himself and everybody."
Albion have the right to recall the former Hearts man after 28 days.
*Youngster Sam Mantom has also joined Tranmere on a month's loan.
