Craig Gardner has joined his boyhood club Birmingham City after the two clubs finally agreed a deal.
Blues fan Gardner will rejoin Birmingham on an initial loan and then complete a permentant transfer at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old midfielder joined Albion on a free transfer from Sunderland in the summer of 2014 and recently signed a new two-year deal.
But the midfielder has struggled to break into Tony Pulis' starting XI and has decided to make the short switch across the West Midlands.
“Craig has done a great job for me and the Club and we were certainly not in any hurry to see him leave," said Tony Pulis.
“But he is desperate to play first team football which I could not guarantee and this is a terrific opportunity for him at Birmingham City.
“He goes with our very best wishes.”
In total, Gardner made 85 appearances in Albion colours, scoring six times.
