West Bromwich Albion captain, Jonathan Greening, has handed in a written transfer request to the club as his five-year spell at The Hawthorns looks set to come to an end.
The former Manchester United midfielder was brought to Albion by Gary Megson in 2004 for just £1.25 million from Middlesbrough and has been an instrument figure in the Black Country.
The 30-year-old took over the captain's armband from Curtis Davis two seasons ago and lifted Albion's first title in more than 80-years at Loftus Road in his first season wearing the armband. However, after a second relegation with the Baggies it's believed Greening handed the request prior to Albion jetting off to their pre-season tour of Slovenia.
Speculation has been mounting regarding Jonno's future in recent weeks with chairman, Jeremy Peace, admitting yesterday the club had turned down a 'derisory' offer from Fulham for Albion's club captain.
