West Brom midfielder Jonathan Greening wants to stay at The Hawthorns and has revealed talks have opened regarding a new contract. The former Manchester United player has one year remaining of his current deal but is happy to stay despite Albion not gaining promotion back to the Barclays Premiership. The likes of Curtis Davies, Jason Koumas and Diomansy Kamara could now leave after the Baggies were beaten by Derby in Monday's Coca-Cola Championship play-off final at Wembley. But Greening is content to remain if he is part of manager Tony Mowbray's plans. Greening said: "Will I open talks about a new contract? Yes. We are speaking at the moment. I'd be happy to sign a new deal as long as the chairman and the manager want me. Everyone likes playing for the manager, with the way he plays and the football he plays and it would suit me down to the ground."
Defender Paul Robinson admits he wants to play Premiership football but has has pledged to try to help the club earn promotion next season. He said: "Will I be at Albion next season? That is a big question but I am still a West Brom player. I am signed up here for the next two years so I will get my head down and work hard. But I want to play Premiership football and sometimes you can't take that away from players if the opportunity comes up. As far as I am concerned, I've got another two years at West Brom and I'll be getting my head down and working hard and trying to get the club promoted next year."
