"It's a difficult one as we don't want him to go and I've told him so, but you can understand why, with him knowing about West Brom's interest, he might want to," Jewell told the Wigan official website.
"I've spoken to Geoff at length and explained that I don't want to lose him, but it looks likely that the move will go through.
"We've tried hard to convince him to stay and though it's not a done deal yet, West Brom have made a bid for the player and we have reluctantly accepted it."
