"The gaffer told me last week that he wanted to bring in Nathan Ellington and also told me that I would remain part of his plans," Horsfield told the Birmingham Evening Mail.
"I want to stay here and he wants me to stay. When someone like Bryan Robson tells you that it's very reassuring and a great boost.
"It was disappointing not to play a part last weekend because I want to start every game but then the gaffer doesn't want footballers in his squad who are happy to sit in the stand.
"But I also appreciate that the days are gone of one person playing all 38 games.
"The gaffer will pick strikers who have different attributes for certain games and I know if I keep working hard I can get back in."
