New Albion head coach Alan Irvine insists he’s out to impress at The Hawthorns.
The former Everton No.2 insists he wants to play football the right way and entertain fans in the process.
“I’m a purist, I like attractive football,” said the Scot.
“I like my teams to control the game, control the tempo of the game and have possession of the ball.
“But I’m also a realist and I realise that the most important thing for the club and the most important thing for the fans is that we win.
“So I would expect there will be different tactics being used for different games, different systems, different strategies and these are all things that can be worked at on the training ground.”
Irvine, who only started in his role on Monday, also confirmed the Baggies are in talks with former Wolves defender Joleon Lescott about bringing the 31-year-old to the club on a free transfer. Lescott is believed to be scheduled to have a medical tomorrow.
"I believe negotiations are going well,” Irvine added.
“Hopefully we're able to meet Joleon's demands. That's the calibre of player we would like to bring in.
"We are not there yet but there's an interest. I've had a great working relationship with him in the past."
