What is it about Mike Jones and penalty decisions. Remember the Ryan Donk shirt pull? Or Santi Cazola's dive over Steven Reid. Yep, that was him. Yesterday, it was Mangala's bundled challenge on Sandro that somehow went unpunished as Albion battled bravely but came up short at Man City.
Team
Pulis made two changes to the side that drew with Sunderland with James McClean and Stephane Sessegnon both recalled. Youngster Jonathan Leko was again selected on the bench.
Tactics
Saido Berahino played behind Salomon Rondon up front. McClean played wide left with Fletcher given freedom to push forward alongside Sandro.
Performance
Albion were always in the game and the Baggies were unfortunate to come away defeated. Had Jones given Albion a penalty we may be celebrating Albion's first victory at the Etihad Stadium.
Man of the Match
Darren Fletcher. When Albion's captain plays well so do the rest of his teammates. Fletcher rolled back the years yesterday in Manchester. He started the counter attack which led to Albion's goal and rarely gave the ball away. A superb performance from Albion's captain fantastic.
Talking Point
Tony Pulis was far from happy with the decison to award City a penalty. Replays showed there was minimal contact as Kolarov jumped over Sessegnon's boot.
Ref Watch
Mike Jones again made sure he won't be on Albion fans' Christmas card lists. The official somehow failed to award Albion a spot kick when Sandro was charged in the back by Mangala. You won't see a more obvious penalty.
What's Next?
Albion are back home next weekend for the visit of Watford. The Baggies face an anxious wait to see if Salomon Rondon will recover from the injury that forced him off at 20 minutes.
