Albion target Solomon Kalou has seemingly turned down a move to The Hawthorns.
The Baggies submitted a £2.6m offer for the former Chelsea man last week – activating a clause in his contract.
Steve Clarke has identified Kalou as one of his main transfer targets this summer but could be left disappointed after the Ivorian revealed his desire to stay in France.
Speaking to Voix du Nord Kalou said his coach as Lille, Rene Girard is somebody who can help him progress and “under these conditions, I do not see why I should go for something elsewhere”.
It’s believed that Kalou was offered a contract worth £2.5 million a year to join Albion. However, that is considerably less than the £70,000 a week deal he’s currently on at Lille.
