Megson says he is pleased to be sitting at the top-of-the-table after the first 18 games of the season despite Albions failure to open up a three point gap on their closest rivals.

"It's disappointing not to have taken three points but at this point in time we're where I want us to be - at the top of the table, he said after the 0-0 draw.

The best two cahnces of the game against Reading fell to defender Bernt Haas with the Albion boss commenting: "I would've expected Bernt to have done better with the two chances he had but other people had chances to score too.

"Rob Hulse had a chance when the keeper came out and missed it and then Andy Johnson had a good opportunity from a corner."
