Miller hoping to repay Mowbray's faith

Ishmael Miller has hailed the influence of Tony Mowbray as one of the major factors of his move from Manchester City. The 'Moston Menace' has swapped his boyhood heroes for The Hawthorns after signing a three-and-a-half year, plus an extra year in the club's favour, deal yesterday.

The 6ft 3in powerhouse has already scored an impressive ten goals in 24 goals this term but believes his Baggies career can only flourish with Mowbray's guidance.

"Tony Mowbray is probably the main reason I signed," he said.

"I like him as a person. Hopefully he likes me.

"He's brought the best out of me and credit to him.

"I've got a lot of respect for him.

"He can make me a better player.

"I know he's going to take this club places.

"Hopefully, I can keep repaying him and we can go places together."

Although leaving his native Manchester on a permanent basis for the first time Miller is relishing the challenge of maintaining the Baggies' promotion push as he battles back from a hamstring injury.

"I'm really happy to sign here," Miller added.

"I settled in really well when I first came because all the players get along.

"I feel like it is a home to me now.

"I'll miss Manchester a lot because I lived there for 20 years.

"But I'm happy - and that's the main thing.

"Everyone has welcomed me here - the players, coaching staff and fans.

"I've done quite well so far.

"Hopefully, I can carry on and help us reach the Premier League.

"Just to be playing against the best teams is what this club deserves."
