West Brom manager Tony Mowbray insists skipper Curtis Davies has the right temperament to cope with the constant speculation about his future. Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder is the latest Premiership manager to express an interest in Davies, claiming he is "one of our January targets". It is understood Roeder is weighing up the possibility of offering Albion around £9million plus a replacement defender - Titus Bramble - for England under-21 international Davies. But Mowbray has made it clear he wants to keep Davies who has hinted himself he would be happy to remain at the Baggies if they gain promotion back to the Premiership. The West Brom boss said: "I am delighted that Curtis has not been affected by speculation and that he can still produce good displays - like the one against Leeds on Saturday. There is a lot going on around him but we cannot control that. It is not coming from us and he is working hard to help his team win football matches. It is great for me as a manager, that we have somebody with that sort of temperament. We will look after him as best we can and give him all the support he needs. Every individual reacts different. We have another player who has reacted differently to the speculation. I wouldn't criticise anybody."
Mowbray added: "Curtis is of an age where he doesn't have to worry because he has 15 years of his playing career left. It is not as if his career goes out of the window if something doesn't happen by the end of January."
