Albion gaffer Tony Mowbray can see signs of Gianni Zuiverloon returning to the form that set the division alight in the early stages of the campaign. The Albion boss believes, like many foreign players, the fast tempo and physical nature of the Premiership came as steep learning curve for the youngster after running on 'adrenaline' for the first few games after returning from The Olympics.
The Dutch Under-21 international right-back has started all but one of Albion's league fixtures this campaign with his dip in form coinciding with the Baggies wretched run of one point in seven games.
"I think foreign players are not used to the intensity of the Premier League," said the Baggies boss.
"Early on you get adrenaline and during the first few games Gianni was coping with the energy.
"He had been to the Olympics so he had an intense period and little time off.
"It's a physical and mental thing.
"There is a levelling off.
He continued: "You hope their talent comes back to the fore and they become accustomed to the demands of the Premier League week in, week out.
"I genuinely feel, and you can see it sometimes with those who have never played at this level before, they go from being happy and smiley to looking tired and jaded.
"You need to get them to the other side where they understand the demands, what the league is about and why we work so hard to make sure they're ready for the league.
"I think the signs are there.
"His performances are becoming more consistent again following a dip."
