Youssouf Mulumbu says he’s delighted to have signed a new and improved contract offer at The Hawthorns.
Albion’s Player of the Year penned a new three year contract, plus a year in the club’s favour, yesterday committing his future to the Baggies until 2015.
The former PSG midfielder has been subject of transfer speculation this summer, but is now happy to concentrate on the season ahead and building on where he left off last term.
"I am very happy," said Mulumbu.
"The club has shown me the desire in every respect to stay at the club.
"It means they want to build up a big team and I'm glad to be involved.
"I'm looking forward to this new season.
"I know the gaffer, I know the club and we play very good football.
"I think we can do much better.
"I heard about some teams like Fiorentina and Bayern Munich interested in me but it is not the right time for me to go.
"I spoke with all the board and they made me think about my situation - and I think it is better for me to stay at West Brom."
Baggies boss Roy Hodgson expressed his own satisfaction that his marauding midfield star had penned a new deal with the club.
"It is great that Youssouf has been rewarded for his efforts last season and that we have been able to persuade him that his future lies with West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League,” said Hodgson.
"We're looking forward to seeing him build on his success of being named Player of the Season - and trying to confirm it again this season."
