Bristol Rovers have signed West Brom's Stuart Nicholson on loan for a second time. The highly-rated forward has moved to the Memorial Stadium on loan until the end of the season. Nicholson originally joined the League Two club in November on a three-month loan only for the move to be cut short after he was recalled by West Brom. The 19-year-old is highly-regarded within the corridors of the Hawthorns and he has signed a new 18-month deal with the option for a further year. Nicholson revealed that he turned down a number of other clubs in order to link back up with Rovers.
"I've signed a deal for an extra year-and-a-half from now, but I wanted to go out on loan again until the end of the season to get some experience of playing first team football. When I was back with West Brom I played in a reserve match against Huddersfield Town which we won 4-2, and I managed to score two goals. Shortly after the game, Huddersfield wanted to sign me, and also in the last few days Leyton Orient and Northampton Town both came in for me as well. West Brom were happy for me to choose where I went, and I told them this is where I wanted to be. I'm here until the end of the season now, there's no recall clause which I'm happy about, and I've no regrets about turning down the other clubs. I can't wait to get going again, it's almost like I've never been away. The lads are all joking in the dressing room, and it's good to be back. I'm looking forward to Saturday now, and hopefully I can be involved and play my part." explained Nicholson.
