O'Connor fee rejected

Albion signed the 24-year-old free-agent from the Potters last week but because of his age League rules say a fee has to be paid.

"They've signed him and now they'll have to pay for him and £50,000 for a player of his talent is a paltry offer," said a spokesman for Stoke.

"Unless they come up with a reasonable amount the decision on the final transfer fee may have to go to a tribunal."

City chief executive Jonathan Fuller added on the club's official website: "The offer even extended to Albion spreading the cost over 12 months and two instalments, meaning we would get £25,000 initially.

"It is completely unrealistic for a player of his ability."
