Jonas Olsson has given Albion a post-relegation boost with the news he intends to honour his Hawthorns contract.

Internet reports and the Swedish press suggested Olsson could be heading the exit door with a number of clubs chasing his signature this summer.

But, after his first relegation of this professional career was confirmed on Sunday against Liverpool, the former NEC Nijmegen defender quashed any rumours and is already focused on finishing with a win away at Blackburn.

“I don’t want to think about the future now but I have a contract here and as it is now I want to fulfil it,” the 28-year-old said.

“That’s the way I feel. I have a contract. Of course every player wants to play as high as possible but I like it here and it’s a great club.

“But this is the time for being disappointed and I don’t want to think about the future right now.

“We are all disappointed now so let’s be disappointed for a while and try to finish off the season against Blackburn and then start thinking about the future

“I think we just want to finish off well against Blackburn.

“We will go for a win there and see where it takes us. The Blackburn game is far away now in my head.”
