Roberto Di Matteo saw his side maintain their unbeaten start to the season and again reach the top of the Championship, but admitted he wasn’t entirely happy with the 3-1 victory against Doncaster Rovers.
For the second time in four days the Baggies again came from a goal down to finish with a two goal advantage following two headers from Jonas Olsson and a fantastic first striker from 17-year-old Chris Wood.
However the victory and goals were the only highlight for the Baggies’ head coach as Di Matteo admitted his table-toppers still have more work ahead of them on the training pitch.
"I'm happy about three things: the three points, two goals from set-pieces and Chris Wood's stunning goal," a disgruntled Di Matteo said after the victory.
"I wasn't happy with much more.
"We still have a lot of work to do - and we have always said that.
"But it's good that we're still winning in the meantime.
"It shows we have good character.
"The team showed patience.
"They don't lose their heads and believe we can get back into games.
"We always try and emphasise with the players that we need to be patient and we did it again tonight.
"But I've told the players not to get into the habit of giving early goals away because it makes your life so much more difficult when you have to come from behind.
"We didn't quite do what we were supposed to in the first half, especially in the first half-hour.
"We didn't put them under enough pressure.
"We allowed them to play a bit too much and we waited too long to do our pressing, which we did very well in the second half."
