Tony Mowbray has been quick to fill the role exited by Craig Shakespeare after his departure to Leicester City with former Norwich City manager, Peter Grant. Mowbray and Grant played alongside each other for Celtic for four years before the two started out successful coaching careers.

The 42-year-old Scot played a huge part as Alan Pardew's assistant at West Ham in establishing the east London club as a Premiership force again and was credited in helping them finish ninth and reach the FA Cup final in 2006. Grant departed the Hammers to take the hot-seat at Norwich where he stayed for 12-months before being replaced by Glenn Roeder.

"I'm delighted we've been able to bring Peter on board," the Albion boss said.

"Peter's got great enthusiasm for the game and he's got the experience of working in the Premier League at West Ham when they were very, very successful.

"We need to draw on that experience and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"I'm sure the players will enjoy working with him as the season goes on because of the enthusiasm he has for the game.

"I like working with football people who are passionate about the game and have an opinion.

"Peter's definitely like that and I'm looking forward to debating teams, dissecting games and preparing for football matches with him.

"I played with him at Celtic for four years and he always gave 100 per cent every time he played and trained.

"I'm sure that transmits to his coaching as well.

"He's a very committed person and hopefully he'll enhance everything we're doing here."

Mowbray added: "You'd be amazed at the amount of good football people out of work.

"I did have one or two conversations with other people but Peter's enthusiasm and his Premier League experience was pretty crucial when it came to making a final decision."
