Stoke Chairman Peter Coates still wants to sign Saido Berahino - despite having a bid of around £20m rejected by the Baggies.
City lodged the offer last week although Albion are unwilling to sell before they sign at least one replacement forward.
Berahino himself favoured an article on Twitter outlining Stoke's attempts to secure his signature.
Coates told Talksport: "Berahino is on our list. We'd like to do something. We're in the hands of the player and West Bromwich on that and we're working away on it.
"We'd like to take him if a deal can be done."
Crystal Palace are also interested in Berahino, although it's believed the striker favours a move to the Potteries.
The striker recently rejected an improved four-year contract at The Hawthorns and manager Tony Pulis will allow him to move once new additions are signed.
Albion are thought to be interested in signing Diafra Sakho from West Ham. The Hammers are willing to let the 26-year-old leave Upton Park - but themselves want a replacement.
