Tony Pulis said Albion’s hectic fixture list played a part in the Baggies drab 0-0 result with local rivals Aston Villa.
The visitors were to on top for large periods of the game with the Baggies forced onto the back foot. Albion failed to have a single effort on target in 90 minutes against the league’s bottom side.
Pulis afterwards said he was pleased with side’s reslillance to grind out a point after a below par display and believes fatigue played a major part in Albion’s display.
“It was a typical derby game, very ferocious, with effort and commitment,” he said.
“We've had eight games in four weeks and although people might be disappointed, the effort and commitment put in was first class.
"We need every point to maintain our Premier League status - and that's what we've done.”
