Albion romped to a 4-2 win against struggling West Ham after Nacer Chadli capped his home debut with a brace.

Chadli opened the scoring before he finished a fine counter-attack to notch Albion's fourth. James McClean and Salomon Rondon scored in between.

Record signing Nacer Chadli, who scored two goals and picked up two assists on his competitive home debut, started the fun with an eighth minute penalty after Arthur Masuaku inexplicably handled a Matt Phillips cross.

Based on this performance, the £13million man is the creative link this team has been so desperately missing, but he wasn't the only bright spark.

Both Phillips and James McClean were in inspired form on the wings, vindicating Tony Pulis's decision to rest 18-year-old Sam Field in favour of more width.

West Bromwich Albion survived a late onslaught to record a first home win since March in a rip-roaring contest at the Hawthorns.

Nacer Chadli bagged a brace in his first competitive match on home soil.

Salomon Rondon and James McClean also got on the score sheet as West Brom hit four in the league for the first time under Tony Pulis.

The Baggies did not have it all their own way though scoring two goals in reply through Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini.

In the first game since Thursday's announcement that a takeover by Chinese group Yunyi Guokai Sports Development Limited - led by Guochuan Lai - had been completed, defeat might have left Pulis, with speculation surrounding his future prior to kick-off, on the brink.

During last weekend's defeat at Bournemouth Albion fans sang "Tony Pulis, your football is s**t" but no such criticism could be levelled on Saturday.

West Brom surged into a four-goal lead through Nacer Chadli, superb on his home debut, Salomon Rondon, James McClean and Chadli once more finding the target.

Telegraph

Nothing went right for them as West Bromwich Albion duplicated the scoreline achieved by Watford at the London Stadium last weekend. It was painful for Slaven Bilic, who was left scratching his head after watching his team gift a home side who could scarcely believe their good fortune.

West Brom had previously managed only six goals in 13 Premier League matches and had not scored four in a Premier League match for two years.

They had barely 25 per cent of possession. Yet Nacer Chadli, Albion’s record £13 million signing from Tottenham, scored twice on his home debut in a man-of-the-match performance, with Salomon Rondon and James McClean the others to cash in on some dreadful defending by Bilic’s team. Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini, with a penalty, gave West Ham a glimmer of hope, but there was no denying a first win at the Hawthorns since March for the home side.
