Tough tackling defender Paul Robinson is hoping the Baggies' first win since October can now help turn their season around and start the Great Escape mark II.
Robinson was part of the Albion side which beat Manchester City 2-0 at The Hawthorns during the 2004/05 season which started the greatest escape the Premiership has seen. Now, Robbo is hoping history can repeat itself and Albion climb their way up the table and out of the relegation zone.
"The 'Great Escape' started when we played Manchester City," the defender recalled.
"That was a massive three points for us today.
"We knew it would be a tough game because they've got quality players.
"We knew we had to dig in and grind out a result.
"Their goal was a great finish. Scott Carson said he didn't see it.
He continued: "But the big man [Roman Bednar] has pulled it out for us with a great header in the end.
"We can look forward to our turkey on Christmas Day now!
"We've got a great belief in the squad.
"We believe we can win games at this level.
"The luck has not been on our side and we've let in some silly goals.
"Hopefully, today is the turning point for us as a club.
"As a group of players, we want to take this club forward."
