Roberts undergoing medical at Wigan

Roberts, who was granted his wish to leave the Hawthorns last month, has turned down the chance to join Leicester City on loan in favour of a permanent deal with the Latics.

Albion chairman Jeremy Peace told the Birmingham Post: "I have spoken to Jason's agent and Dave Whelan at Wigan Athletic and both have confirmed that the player will have a medical at Wigan with a view to signing.

"Even though we had no need to sell Jason, we reluctantly accepted his transfer request. I understand that, unless there are last-minute snags, Jason will become a Wigan Athletic player."
