After weeks of speculation Albion have rejected an offer from Sevilla for midfielder Borja Valero. The undisclosed fee for the 25-year-old was immediately turned down by the Baggies with Sporting and Technical Director Dan Ashworth keen to state Albion are in no rush to sell their record transfer signing.
Delegates from the Spanish outfit arrived in the Midlands this week to try and thrash out a deal for the former Real Madrid man who excelled last season whilst on loan in La Liga for Real Mallorca.
However, Ashworth was keen to point out head coach Roberto Di Matteo would be more than happy if Valero reported back for pre-season training at the start of July.
"There have been lots of rumours in the media over the past few weeks about Sevilla being interested in Borja but the bid they tabled yesterday was the first we have received from them,” revealed Ashworth.
"It was rejected out of hand as it was nowhere near what we would regard as an acceptable offer.
"Borja enjoyed an outstanding season in Spain and we have just been promoted to the top flight.
"If we do not receive a satisfactory offer for Borja, we are more than happy for him to rejoin us for pre-season training in three weeks' time and be a part of our Barclays Premier League squad."
