Ishmael Miller's chance of winning his first international honours has been put on hold after the young striker was forced to withdraw due to a minor groin injury. The January capture picked up the strain during Good Friday's draw at The Valley.

Although Miller is unavailable for action this week, Albion boss Tony Mowbray is optimistic the hot-shot will be fit for selection for the visit of Colchester on Saturday (KO 3pm).

"I saw Ishmael stretching quite a bit on the pitch on Friday, but it is very minor." Mowbray said.

The Albion boss also gave hope that midfielders Chris Brunt (hamstring) and James Morrison (ankle) will be fit to face the division's bottom side. However, the news is not so good for Leon Barnett who is expected to miss his second consecutive match with a hamstring injury.

"Leon won't be ready for the weekend," the Baggies boss continued.

"As for the following week, I don't know.

"It could be two or four weeks - but we would hope it would be closer to two weeks.

"It's a Grade One injury, which is pretty minor.

"Leon will be ready when he is ready."
