Returning midfield maestro Filipe Teixeria hopes to put his seven-months of injury heartbreak behind him on Saturday with the Portuguese ace in contention for a place in the squad for Saturday's visit to Anfield (KO 5.30pm).

The former Paris St. Germain ace missed the final ten games of last season after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament against Plymouth Argyle. And although he wasn't present to witness his team-mates warming up on the final day of the season at QPR with his name on their backs, the gesture hasn't been forgotten by the 28-year-old.

"I missed the last ten games and they were the most important," Teixeria admitted.

"And by missing the last two games I missed out on some beautiful things but for me the most important thing was to recover well.

"I would liked to have been here for the last two games but my knee had a lot of swelling and the doctor in Portugal said I could not fly.

"It was good the players kept winning.

"The worst thing that could have happened for me is being injured and staying in the Championship.

"When I was in Portugal I always checked the games and results.

"It helped me to recover much better.

"The players stayed in touch with me.

"I know they wore t-shirts with my name on at QPR and it was a big honour for me.

"It shows the team is together, which is important.

"It was one of the nicest things that can happen for a player."

Teixeria was due to return to first-team action two weeks ago but a calf injury put his dreams of playing at Old Trafford on hold. However, now fully fit again, the midfielder can't wait to get his Premiership career started.

"It is one of the best leagues in the world so of course I am excited," he contined.

"I would like to play in it as soon as possible.

"I am eager to come back and feel the atmosphere again.

"It was difficult to get another injury because I expected to be in the squad for the United game.

"It was the worst thing that could happen after a long injury break.

"But I couldn't do anything about it and just needed to keep going.

"Every player wants to play at Manchester United but I just want to be back for the team in whatever game.

"The most important thing for me is to come back and play again."

He added: "The knee is okay,

"I hope the problem with the calf has gone as well now and I'm ready to train.

"It has been frustrating but as a player you know this can happen.

"It has happened to me but you need to be strong and work hard to play again.

"It was difficult for me and my family but now it's in the past and I need to be ready to help the team."
