West Brom manager Tony Mowbray has revealed that the stress of being on the transfer list is taking its toll on striker Nathan Ellington. Ellington recently had a transfer request accepted by the Baggies and has not featured in the side for the past three games. He was due to travel with the squad for the visit to Leeds at the weekend but missed out after reporting flu-like symptoms. The 25-year-old underwent blood tests with the club's medical team and Mowbray has revealed that the pressure of his current situation is beginning to affect Ellington.
He said: "Nathan phoned in on Friday morning with a flu-like illness. He's been seen by our medical team. He's had all the tests and I think it's probably the mental strain that is dragging him down. He is a little bit stressed about the situation and anybody who has ever been under any stress knows it can sometimes lower your immune system."
