West Bromwich Albion's record signing, Borja Valero, claims he's finally getting to grips with the rigours of the Premier League even revealing he's relishing the physicality - although he does admit to giving Paul Robinson a wide berth!
The £4.7 million pound summer signing from Real Mallorca has had to do extra fitness work in the gym to help him adapt from the more technical La Liga to the fast-paced and physical style of the Premiership.
However the 23-year-old former Real Madrid midfield has admitted that after a slow start to his Albion career he's adapting his game with the help of some unlikely sources.
"The football in England is more physical, but I am fine," Albion's No. 28 said.
"Teams play hard and it is more physical but I think I have adapted to the team and I am very happy with that.
"We are playing well but now we need the results.
"I like this style of play and I am happy to be here with it because in Spain I wouldn't have had the chance to be more physical.
"In Spain I used to be more about keeping control of the ball and now I have to be more physical.
"I do extra work in the gym every week because I want to improve my body.
"This is helping me in the games.
"The English players are teaching me every day to be more physical.
"Paul Robinson helps me too much!
"I won't kick Robbo though - he'd kill me!"
Although currently occupying 20th place in the division, Valero is refusing to press the panic button recalling his experience last season at Real Mallorca where they escaped relegation after finding themselves in a relegation dogfight.
I had a similar situation in Spain last season, which is why I'm not worried about being bottom of the Premier League now," Valero added.
"We are only three points away from 12th place.
"Mallora were in 17th place with only seven games to go and we stopped up.
"We had a way of playing and the players used to say if we carry on playing like that we would find a way of achieving what they wanted.
"The situation with West Brom is more or less the same.
"We're working hard and playing well so we just need to keep believing.
"It's like Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are in another league.
"The games coming up are difficult but they are very important.
"When we've played against similar teams we have won."
